Gymnastics BC Celebrates Two Finalists in Sport BC's 56th Annual Athlete of the Year Awards

Gymnastics BC is thrilled to announce that two of its outstanding athletes have been named finalists for the prestigious 56th Annual Athlete of the Year Awards by Sport BC. The awards ceremony is set to take place on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the renowned Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, with the event hosted by CBC's Scott Russell.
The selected finalists from Gymnastics BC are:
1. Gavin Dodd - Finalist for Junior Male Athlete of the Year
2. Gabby Flynn - Finalist for Senior Female Athlete of the Year
These exceptional athletes have been recognized for their outstanding performances in the 2023 season, showcasing dedication, skill, and sportsmanship in the realm of gymnastics.
Sport BC's President and CEO, Rob Newman, expressed excitement about the upcoming ceremony, stating, "The Athlete of the Year Awards is a true celebration of sport in our province. The finalists listed below will be honored at the event and represent exceptional efforts and accomplishments in 2023. We congratulate our finalists and the organizations they represent."
The event, chaired by Bernie Pascall, includes a diverse selection committee of experienced British Columbia sport leaders and media members. Apart from the athlete awards, six additional honors will be presented during the ceremony, including the Best of BC, KidSport BC Community Champion, Harry Jerome Comeback, Daryl Thompson Lifetime Achievement Award, In Her Footsteps Honourees, and the Bobbie Steen Legacy Foundation Award recipient.
