Important Reminder For Clubs

MARCH 6, 2023

The Following reminder is applicable to Clubs that host Competitions or Camps that Include Out of Province Athletes, their Coaches, and Judges

Out of Province Athletes, Coaches, and Judges must complete the GymBC Assumption of Risk/Liability Waiver form before they attend a GymBC-sanctioned event in BC.

It has recently been brought to our attention that athletes, coaches, and judges that are notGymBC members but are members of another Canadian Provincial Gymnastics Organization, need to complete a GymBC Assumption of Risk/Liability Waiver form prior to participation in a GymBC-sanctioned event located in BC.

Clubs may have out of province participants complete the pdf version of the form available on the GymBC website (form link available under the “Exclusion of Liability – Assumption of Risks” heading). Or, clubs may use the online Activity Messenger version of the form.

The following text was added to the Activity Messenger of the form: “If you are from outside of BC, attending a GymBC-sanctioned event at one of our member clubs, please select that club from the drop-down list. Thank you!”. This will ensure that the host club will receive a copy of the completed form by email.

A reminder that a parent/guardian must complete the form for minor participants.

We recognize that clubs that have already held competitions this season may not have collected GymBC Assumption of Risk/Liability Waiver forms from out of province participants that attended. Though not ideal, please note that you do not have to attempt to collect forms from those participants after the fact. Just be aware that GymBC Assumption of Risk/Liability Waiver forms are now required for out of province participants and are to be collected for all competitions moving forward.

Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
