Gymnastics BC Welcomes New Sport Safety Officer

MARCH 30, 2023

Vancouver, BC (March 30, 2023) — Gymnastics BC (GymBC) is pleased to announce the hiring of a new Sport Safety Officer.  After a successful search, we would like to welcome Justin Schubert to our staff.

As a leader in Safe Sport, Gymnastics BC works to diligently deliver positive gymnastics experiences for province wide participation at all levels. “We have been actively searching for a new Sport Safety Officer to join our passionate staff,” states Nigel Loring, CEO, Gymnastics BC. “Justin (Schubert) brings his depth of expertise along with his highly analytical decision-making management experience to underwriting/risk management to our sport organization and will lead the way in helping to make our sport and gymnastics family stronger.”

Justin has been working as a commercial underwriter with Intact Insurance and a commercial underwriting assistant prior to that.  Risk Management has been an avid area of focus for him during his corporate career. Aside from his insurance focused career, Justin also competes in Powerlifting at the provincial, regional and national levels. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the BC Powerlifting Association, which is a non-profit organization. Justin also enjoys mentoring his junior colleagues and building relationships wherever he goes.

“I am excited to have a knowledgeable and experienced person, like Justin, join our GymBC team.  We have been making strides for our members in the area of safe sport, but like many things, more work needs to be done.  Adding a person with his experience will help us continue to deliver gymnastics in a safe and responsible manner,” commented Loring.

Please join us in welcoming Justin to the GymBC staff.  His start date is Monday April 3, 2023.  He can be reached as of then at: safety@gymbc.org
