GymBC Screening Policy Update

DECEMBER 1, 2022

Effective: January 1, 2023

As part of GymBC’s ongoing commitment to improving our safe sport policies and procedures, Gymnastics BC’s Board of Directors has approved a new Screening Policy to replace the current Criminal Record Reviews Policy which has been in place since October, 2017.

This new policy provides updates and more specific details on who, when and where criminal records checks are required for participation in GymBC sanctioned events or activities.

The policy details the application of procedures necessary for submission of supporting documentation as well the process of review and confirmation.

Furthermore, additional education or training may be required depending on the specific role or perceived risk level associated with the scope of responsibility and /or authority.

Club leadership, management and coaches in particular, should review the updated policy as there have been some important changes.  GymBC’s compliance checks will be conducted twice per year, in November/December and again in April/May as well as by event for all Team BC, competitions.

The new policy will be effective as of January 1, 2023 and will apply to all GymBC members, staff, service/resource providers, contractors, subcontractors and representatives.

The new policy update can be viewed Here.
