Parkour Coach
Employer: Powell River Gymnastics Society
Part time Position available, could be combined with other coaching duties to create more hours
Salary/Wage: Based on coaching level and experience
Requirements: Essential Requirements:
- Recreational Parkour Coach Certificate & active annual membership with the World Freerunning Parkour Federation (WFPF)
- Gymnastics Foundations Trained (Foundations Intro and Theory)
- Passion for an active lifestyle, physical literacy and development of children
- Must be able to bear weight as required to spot or support athletes of all ages and abilities
- Must be able to be physically active including (but not limited to) movements such as: rotation, squatting, lifting, holding and others as required
- Good understanding of class management and behaviour management
- Must be able to teach a class in English
Preferred Requirements:
- Education in relevant fields
- Previous participation in the sport or activity of parkour
Employment candidate will have to complete the following:
- Respect in Sport and Making Ethical Decisions (online courses)
- First Aid Certification
- Criminal Record Check (for ages 18 and older)
Responsibilities:
Planning and Preparation – knowledge of learning process, setting instructional outcomes, knowledge of use of equipment, design lesson plans, understand assessments, understand operational duties.
Class Environment – create an environment of safety, respect and engagement, establish a culture for learning, manage class procedures, manage participant behaviour
Coaching Delivery – communicate and engage participants in learning, use question and feedback techniques
Professional Responsibilities – reflect on coaching, maintain accurate records, communication, peer development and team building, personal growth and development, professional behaviour
