Located in the beautiful West Kootenays, the Selkirk Challengers Gymnastics Club is a not-for-profit organization that has been serving the Castlegar area for nearly 20 years. The area has two ski resorts, as well as many hiking & biking trails, beaches, and campsites.
The Selkirk Challengers Gymnastics Club encourage our gymnasts to reach their full potential with competitive spirit, co-operation, and good sports ethics. Our dedicated coaches promote health and wellness through quality instruction, and strive to provide an environment where every athlete feels accepted, valued, and respected. We train recreational, Xcel, Junior Olympic, and High School levels. During these Covid-19 times, we offer small class sizes (6:1) and a low occupancy limit in the gymnasium.

Artistic Gymnastics Coach
Position Title: Gymnastics Coach
Start date: Flexible, could start immediately
Terms of Employment: We are willing to collaborate and create a work schedule that works best for you (part-time or full-time)
Time of work: Monday – Friday, varied hours available.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and certifications
National Coaches Certification Program (NCCP) Foundations Certified
NCCP Comp 1 certified or trained (we can help get you certified if you wish!)
Previous experience within the sport of gymnastics
Some experience competing in or coaching gymnastics considered an asset
Knowledge of use of equipment and different learning styles of participants
Demonstrates an enthusiastic attitude and positive demeanor
Valid First Aid certification or willing to take the certification
Making Ethical Decisions certificate
Respect in Sport certificate
Criminal Record Check (for over 18 years of age)
Driven to impart the knowledge of physical literacy in children, and chart out the class’s/individual’s development plan
Have a good understanding of class and behaviour management
Passionate about the sport of gymnastics and willing to constantly educate yourself on aspects of athlete development
Team player, creative, and also have the ability to work independently
Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
Dependable. Committed and professional attitude towards coaching profession
Coach Responsibilities ( in brief):
Display adept understanding of the recreational and competitive classes scheduled by SCGC
Organize, devise, finalize lesson plans and all tasks incidental to delivery/management of classes, in coordination with our Head Coach
Commitment to coach classes or substitute for classes in the absence of a coach
