2022 Trampoline Gymnastics Canadian Championships Results

Gymnastics BC was ‘Golden’ at the 2022 Trampoline Gymnastics (TG) Canadian Championships! The event was successfully hosted in Calgary July 21-24 at the Genesis Centre.

Team BC finished the 4-day event in top form, capturing an unprecedented Triple Gold in the Women’s Team Finals and setting a record breaking score in Senior Men’s Double Mini Trampoline. This was a particularly impressive accomplishment for Team BC athletes given the outstanding competition from Alberta, Ontario and Quebec.

The Team Final event is a showcase of individual strengths, held as the last event of the competition.  All the provinces’ members are invited to take part, coming together in head-to-head competition in both the men’s and women’s categoriesy in all three disciplines (Trampoline, Double Mini and Tumbling). Teams must be comprised of one athlete from each competitive category (Senior, Junior, Level 7 or Level 6 and Level 5).

Team BC athlete Gavin Dodd also won Gold at the 2022 TG Canadian Championships in Double Mini Trampoline. The Kamloops Gymnastics Trampoline Centre athlete set a new Canadian difficulty record of 20.8.  The previous record of 20.0 was held by Ontario athlete Denis Vachon.

“Breaking the Canadian DMT 2 pass difficulty record means that the sport is pushing forward and helps inspire DMT athletes to keep pushing the sport” states Gavin Dodd. “It also makes the sport more exciting for spectators to watch when new passes and records are achieved.”

“My goal for Nationals was to perform my finals passes to the best of my abilities and try to receive the highest score I could” comments Dodd. “Breaking the record was an added bonus for me.  Denis’s achievements are inspirational and it is an honour for me to break his record.”
